In Los Angeles, there’s a word that people can’t stop using. It refers to a philosophical movement that was set in motion through a series of cultural shocks that occurred in the 19th and 20th centuries. The word is modernism. This Friday, some of the biggest designers are gathering to celebrate modernist design at the LA Modernism Show & Sale, where more than 40 national and international exhibitors will showcase modernist iterations in furniture, lighting, sculpture, art, jewelry, and more. We reached out to the show’s design committee members—some of the biggest interior designers working today—to find out what draws them to modernism. Read on below to find out.
